The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has introduced significant updates to its digital services, including changes to the Police App that allow the public to directly communicate with investigating officers for case updates and easily access a public list of confirmed scam numbers.

During a meeting held at Iskandhar Koshi to provide information on the new administrative and public applications, Inspector of Police Ahmed Saeed from the Digital Data and Technology Command stated that access to these portals will be granted through e-Faas. Users must first download the new Police.mv application, which will then allow easy access to the other portals.

Saeed highlighted that the new updates to the Police.mv MyPortal will provide solutions to the long-standing issue of citizens being unable to get updates on reported cases.

Users can receive updates on cases reported to the police and can directly communicate with the assigned Investigation Officer regarding the progress of their case. The police have committed to responding to these queries within 72 hours. Through the MyPortal, users can also:

  • Anonymously share information related to major cases.
  • Apply for Police Clearance Certificates.
  • Submit crime tips.

Inspector of Police Ahmed Ali announced the launch of a new Cyber Portal accessible to the public. This portal will display a list of phone numbers and links used to perpetrate scams. He emphasized that a number will only appear on the portal as a scam number after the police have confirmed its fraudulent nature following a report.

The applications also include integrated security protocols and awareness tips to enhance public safety.

The MPS has also introduced new internal portals to improve administrative and financial accountability.

This new digital system will replace the current manual process for managing recovered funds in various cases. It will digitize all details of individuals who access the safes where money is kept.

An internal portal has been created to separately track details related to the servicing and expenses of police vehicles, ensuring better accountability and cost management.
