World renowned endodontic specialist and President-Elect of the European Society of Endodontology, Prof. Gianluca Gambarini, MD, DDS, is in the Maldives to conduct a two-day intensive workshop on the latest techniques in root canal treatment.
The workshop opened yesterday at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), with Dr Ali Niyaf, Vice President of the Maldives Medical and Dental Council, attending as chief guest.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr Nadeema Rasheed, Head of the Department of Dentistry and Orofacial Surgery at IGMH.
Organized by IGMH’s Department of Dentistry and Orofacial Surgery in partnership with Biomax, the programme brings together practicing dentists and specialists for structured sessions aimed at enhancing clinical practice and exposure to contemporary endodontic approaches.
Prof. Gambarini, a full professor and Head of Endodontics at the University of Rome, La Sapienza, is widely regarded as a leading authority in the field.
He has delivered more than 500 lectures and scientific presentations globally and has contributed significantly to the development of modern endodontic instruments, materials, and operative protocols.
The visit and workshop were facilitated by Henry Schein and EdgeEndo, internationally recognised leaders in dental innovation. Henry Schein is known for advancing dental technologies and clinical solutions, while EdgeEndo is a pioneer of high-performance endodontic instruments used worldwide.
In Maldives, both brands are represented by Biomax, one of the country’s largest suppliers of dental instruments and consumables.
The workshop allows participants to deepen their understanding of contemporary root canal therapy through sessions on diagnosis, access strategies, shaping concepts, irrigation, activation, obturation, and retreatment, with a focus on clinically relevant advances and best practices.
