MTCC has announced that they are seeking public opinion regarding Phase 2 of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu North Side Development Project.

The project covers the road starting from the Fish Market up to the North Harbor. The road will be expanded along with asphalt being laid.

MTCC said that they are opening the project to public feedback to ensure whether it is being done in line with the public expectations and attaining sustainable development goals.

The survey asks what kind of benefits the project would bring about, along with the difficulties that would arise due to the road closure and what can be done to minimize said difficulties. MTCC also asks what kind of use will be seen with the area surrounding Phase 2 of the project.

Project details:

  • A 7 meter area at the harbor will be reclaimed for expansion.
  • Repair of the harbor's quay wall.
  • Laying asphalt and leveling of the road.
  • Solving road flooding and establishing a drainage system.
  • A pavement to be built on both sides of the road and designating areas to plant trees.
  • Designating lanes for vehicles.

MTCC has not disclosed the starting date of the project.

Phase 1 of the project currently sees laying of asphalt from the Presidential Jetty until the Fish Market, with it being close to completion.
