Electricity restored in L. Gan

Fenaka stated that electricity was restored in L. Gan around 11:30pm last night. The island faced a power interruption after a fire incident at the powerhouse yesterday afternoon, damaging one engine. 

Fenaka Managing Director Mohamed Najah stated that electricity services were restored island-wide by 11:30pm last night. 

The fire incident occurred around 3pm yesterday, with the powerhouse sustaining the highest level of damage. Electricity was restored after temporarily repairing the structure. 

One of the five engines used to power the three wards of Gan was damaged beyond use in yesterday's fire. 

"So we're currently using the other four engines. We are able to provide electricity without any issues," Najah said. 

Najah further said that the damaged powerhouse will be repaired over the next few days. 

The cause of the fire remains unknown as of yet. Najah said that MNDF's Fire & Rescue and Police are investigating.
