Managing Director of Fenaka
Corporation, Mohamed Najah, has stated that following a fire at the Fenaka
power plant in L. Gan this afternoon, which destroyed one engine and caused a
complete power outage across the island, power is expected to be fully restored
to all households by around 12:00 AM tonight (Midnight).
The fire, which occurred at 3:00 PM
this afternoon, caused extensive damage to the building housing the Gan power
plant. Since the incident, the entire island of Gan, which supplies power to
all three of its wards, has been without electricity.
MD Najah told "Mihaaru News" tonight that Fenaka teams are currently working to resolve the issue, and the
target is to restore power to all of Gan by midnight tonight.
He stated that the damage from the
fire was less than initially feared.

"One engine has been badly
damaged. Most of the damage is to the building structure. We are currently
working to temporarily shelter the building and bring it back to normal
operation. The teams are working very hard," the MD said.
He added that as the issue is
resolved, power will be gradually restored to different areas of Gan.
"We estimate finishing the
power restoration to the entire island by 12:00 AM tonight," Najah said.
The cause of the fire at the Gan
power plant is still unknown. MD Najah stated that MNDF Fire and Rescue and the
police are working together to determine the cause.
