First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, stated today that kindness, patience, and support should be prioritized when providing jobs to persons with disabilities.

The First Lady made the remarks while officiating and speaking at a special ceremony where the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) provided job letters to 30 persons with disabilities.

The First Lady said that, we should be happy because they are "content".

"We should be satisfied that self-sufficiency is becoming accessible to these individuals. We should be proud that we are able to assist our new colleagues who work beside us, and that we are able to open opportunities for them to uplift their human dignity, value, and honor," the First Lady said.

She pointed out that among the individuals employed by HDC today, many possess various skills and capabilities despite having a specific disability. She asked HDC employees to provide information and encouragement to these talented individuals.

"None of us possesses all skills. Nor are we all equally capable of all knowledge. The same holds true for these individuals. We should prioritize kindness, patience, and support," she stated.

The First Lady added that she believes being able to handle one's own life affairs independently is a matter of self-respect. This also provides the satisfaction of knowing that their human dignity is protected.

She concluded that the fact that HDC has secured jobs for 30 persons with disabilities today assures that they will be able to manage their basic needs through their own efforts.

At today's ceremony, HDC Managing Director Ali Zuhair stated that employment is not just a means of income; it is a gateway that demonstrates self-confidence and the feeling of being accepted by society.

He said the purpose of HDC providing jobs to persons with disabilities is to ensure an environment where equal opportunities are available without differentiating against anyone.
