Fenaka Corporation has announced that water bills for the month of November will be waived in Fuvahmulah due to the water issues the city faced in the month.

In a statement issued today, Fenaka assured that all efforts are being extended to resolve the water issues faced in Fuvahmulah and to ensure uninterrupted quality services.

While Fuvahmulah water network work was carried out last month, residents faced low water pressure and service interruptions. Fenaka said that the company is still working on upgrading the system.

"Hence, in consideration of these factors, and as an ease to residents, the company has decided to waive bills for the month of November in Fuvahmulah City," the announcement read.

November also saw a four-day water cut in Fuvahmulah after supply water became contaminated. The issue was later resolved, and water services restored. With the water still being discoloured, Maldives Food and Drug Authority conducted water quality tests, which concluded that the water was safe for drinking as per WHO standards.

Fuvahmulah City Council previously said that they had raised the issue of water contamination with relevant authorities on multiple instances. However, the issue remained unresolved until the service began becoming interrupted in November, and more complaints of water contamination came in. With this, the council raised the issue with relevant authorities again, and had the water tested.

The four day service interruption was brought after those tests showed contamination in the water.
