Police detain Sunny Umar from airport

Police said that Sunny was taken into custody while trying to leave the country. Earlier this evening, he was summoned to Police's Family and Child Protection Unit for questioning over allegations of child sexual abuse.

Hussain Sunny Umar has been detained by Police tonight from Velana International Airport. 

Police said that Sunny was taken into custody while trying to leave the country. Earlier this evening, he was summoned to Police's Family and Child Protection Unit for questioning over allegations of child sexual abuse. 

The case against Sunny, a senior official of PR firm The Travel Guys Pvt Ltd, which operates a travel agency and the travel media platform Travelution under its Halal tourism brand, was reported by the family of the children involved, Police have said earlier. 

It is not known yet where Sunny was attempting to travel to. 

Photos circulating on social media show Sunny at the airport tonight wearing a surgical face mask and a cap. 

It was earlier reported that Sunny had been out of the country when the case was lodged with the police. Videos and photos of Sunny being escorted into a police vehicle were circulated on social media earlier today, claiming he had been taken for questioning by police upon his return to the country. Police, however, have not confirmed this. 

There has been allegations against Sunny of child sexual abuse of multiple minors on social media. 

The Travel Guys Pvt Ltd announced that its board is reclaiming Sunny's shares, adding that the shares have not been sold to anyone else.  

The company further stated that the Travelution Media has been operated by an international core team from the beginning, and that Sunny has no involvement in the day to day running of the media.
