Vehicle registrations under foreigners' names temporarily halted

The process of registering land transport vehicles under names of foreigners has been temporarily halted.

The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen posted on social media stating that in order to solve the issue of congestion in Male' and various regions in Maldives, work is being done to bring amendments to the Land Transport Act and its regulations.

And because of that, Minister Ameen said that the registration of land transport vehicles under foreigners' names has been temporarily halted.

The government is currently working to reduce congestion in Male'.

The government has stated that the amount of vehicles that can be used in the Male' region will be determined, along with special parking buildings to be constructed in various regions in order to solve parking issues.
