People’s National Congress (PNC) has opened applications for candidates interested in contesting the upcoming local council and Women’s Development Committee elections, scheduled for 28 March next year.
Candidates will compete for positions including mayor, council members, women’s seats, island council presidents, members, and women’s development committee posts.
The party has made the candidate portal accessible via a QR code and through its website. Applications will be accepted until 6:00 pm on 15 December.
PNC said a primary will be held in constituencies where the number of applicants exceeds the available positions. The party primary is scheduled for Saturday, 27 December, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
PNC said that members who are registered and those who have submitted their party membership forms before December 15 will be eligible to vote.
PNC members will be able to vote at ballot boxes designated for their registered islands, the party said.
