Police arrest five in Hiyaa Tower for prostitution, drugs

A Maldivian man and four foreign women have been arrested from a Hiyaa Tower in Hulhumale' for running large-scale prostitution and drug operations. 

Police said that a Maldivian and a foreigner had colluded to bring in foreign women to the Maldives to then have them engage in prostitution. The proceeds of this was then used for drugs, Police said.

Receiving intelligence reports of this, Police conducted a raid at Hiyaa Tower 12 last Saturday night. 

Through the operation, a Maldivian man and four foreign women were arrested. These are:

- Hussain Solah, 40, Cuba, R. Rasgetheemu

- Zarima Gulamovena Dejraeva, 40, Uzbekistan

- Dildorah Agamnazovara, 31, Uzbekistan

- Shahzodahon Rustamova, 28, Uzbekistan

- Umidabonu Nemato, 34, Uzbekistan

All five were arrested at the scene of the crime, Police said, adding that Hussain Solah and Zarima Gulamovena Dejraeva are suspected of heading the operation. 

Through a subsequent search of the apartment, Police found USD 19,100 and over MVR 18,000 in cash. 

When presented in court, Hussain Solah and Zarima Gulamovena Dejraeva have been placed in remand in custody for ten days, and the other three for five days.
