PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah has been appointed as the PNC Campaign Manager for the upcoming Local Council Election and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) Election.
Falah, who is both the Inguraidhoo constituency MP and Parliament's majority leader, will be PNC's Campaign Manager for the Local Council Election on 28th March 2026, as was announced by PNC yesterday.
However, no PNC candidates have been determined for both elections.
It is to be noted that Falah holds the most influence within PNC's leadership at this time, along with being the most politically vocal leader.
The Elections Commission (EC) has begun work to spread awareness to the public regarding the Local Council Election and the WDC Election. Elections Commission teams are currently conducting awareness activities in 36 islands across 12 atolls.
EC President Mohamed Zahid has stated in the past that an estimated expenditure of MVR 80 million will be seen for the Local Council Election.
At the time, Zahid said that elections held in Maldives are "very costly elections". He also said that he is thinking about reducing future election costs.
As per Zahid, such costs are being seen for Maldivian elections in order to arrange trustworthy elections.
