With Sri Lanka affected by Cyclone Ditwah, leading to potential disruption of air travel, Sri Lankan Airlines has issued a travel advisory urging passengers to call the airline and verify the latest flight status ahead of going to the airport. 

With the death toll from floods and landslides reaching 132, Sri Lanka announced a State of Emergency yesterday. 

Yesterday, flights bound for Male' and Gan, Addu from Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo were cancelled, leaving passengers stranded at the airport. Passengers only became aware of the cancellation after already having arrived at the airport. 

In an announcement issued last night, Sri Lankan Airlines advised passengers travelling on their flights until Tuesday this week to call ahead and confirm flight status before making their way to the airport as the storm is leading to cancellations and delays. 

The airline's notice states that passengers can contact 792 6778 via Whatsapp or Viber to check on flight information. 

Disaster Management Centre (DMC) stated that over 15,000 homes have been damaged in the storm, with 78,000 people having to move to temporary shelters.
