While Cyclone Ditwah, formed in the Bay of Bengal, is moving towards southern India, it will cause thunderstorms and rain in central and southern Maldives over the next 24 hours, the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has stated.

The weather conditions are likely to improve from Tuesday, December 2, onwards, as per the MET Office.

MET Office announced in a post on X that the cyclone is currently approximately 876km to the northeast of HA. Kelaa, on the coast of Sri Lanka. The storm is now moving north-northwestwards, away from Maldives, and towards India's Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh coasts, they said.
