The committee's report will be forward for vote at a parliament sitting. A committee member said that the suspension of CP Naveen and other officers will need to be passed through a vote on the parliament floor.
The Public Accounts Committee has been looking into corruption within POLCO for some days now.
Chair of the sub-committee formed by the Public Accounts Committee to review POLCO corruption, Deputy Speaker Ahmed Nazim has previously said that there is a conflict of interest in police investigating the case as some accused in the case remain in senior positions at the Police service. Nazim said then that there is enough evidence to pursue criminal investigations against some of those officers.
Nazim also said that the Anti Corruption Commission has been requested to recover State property lost through corruption at POLCO. He further added that the committee will be issuing orders to POLCO, Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology and Maldives Customs Service.
