Former Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof's name has been sent to parliament for approval as Maldives' High Commissioner to Japan.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's letter nominating Mahloof for the post was read out in today's parliament sitting, after which it was forwarded for review by the Foreign Relations Committee.
Prior to being appointed Youth Minister during the previous MDP administration, Mahloof served as an MP for multiple terms. Mahloof first got elected to the 17th People's Majlis as a member of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's party Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) during Gayoom's administration. He later got elected for the 18th People's Majlis as a member of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Mahloof joined ruling People's National Congress (PNC) at the party's major rally held on November 17.
