Former President Mohamed Nasheed has supported the comments made by Fazna Ahmed, the wife of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who stated that framing the ongoing political disagreement between Solih and Nasheed as an "argument within the family" is an insult to the intelligence of both leaders.

Responding to Fazna's comments in the MDP National Council group chat, President Nasheed stated that her remarks were correct and acknowledged Fazna as a woman who has contributed significantly to the party.

In a post on Facebook, Fazna explained that she decided to share her view because, recently, people from various strata have been discussing the political differences by linking them to a "family relationship."

Fazna argued that the "narrow mindset" of describing a political disagreement as a family argument is also an obstacle to engaging in the broader thinking required to solve the problems within the MDP.

"In my view, calling a political disagreement an 'argument within the family' is an insult to the intellect of both President Nasheed and President Solih. And such narrow mindsets are also an obstacle to broad thinking needed to solve the problems within the MDP," Fazna stated.

Fazna expressed in her post that friendships formed in school, such as those between Nasheed and Solih, are often centered around shared interests like reading, journalism, sports, music, chess, and black tea. Despite having differing temperaments and various political disagreements, their collaborative successes have been substantial.

"Isn't the conflict arising now from the point where both gentlemen wished to sit in the same seat?" Fazna wrote.

However, she added that this is not a new occurrence in the MDP. She stressed that leaders must operate within the framework of leadership, and that pointing fingers at one another based on rumored statements made by others is not a characteristic of sound leadership.

Fazna concluded that the important thing is to sit down in a spirit of resolving issues, courageously listen to the concerns about the party, its leaders, and the flaws in the leadership, and work to resolve them.
