MET Office has forecast that this end-of-monsoon rains will persist for a week.
In a statement issued today, MET Office said that with the southwest monsoon strengthening, rainy conditions which commenced today will continue across the country for the next three days, with heavy showers, strong winds and rough seas.
MET Office cautioned the public to be alert to weather conditions.
This morning, MET Office issued a Yellow Alert from HA atoll to ADh atoll from 10am to 2pm, predicting heavy rain showers and thunderstorms.
The current rainy conditions are expected to last for a week.
