Salaries saw 15-150 percent increase: Pay Commission

While civil servant salaries have seen changes from this month onward, an attendance allowance has also been designated for working days. Nevertheless, with the allowance being set to the 15th of each month, this month will see just one half of the allowance being given.

The National Pay Commission has said that with the base salary changes, civil servants have now seen a 15 to 150 percent increase in their salaries.

A senior official of the commission told Mihaaru News last Thursday that other sectors outside of the health and education sector have seen salary increments. And the new framework also shows more than 400 metrics, said the official.

The lowest rank, GSC-3 has the highest number of employees in civil service. Nevertheless, the frameworks were not done previously to include these employees.

"Specific frameworks have been created for various skillsets. Every industry will now see career progression. Previously, those who want to move up have to switch to a director or managerial position in government agencies. This is no longer the case. Career progress can now be seen while being in the professional sphere," said the official.

"In reality, this is a very big change. Some areas of skill do not have this opportunity. However, with these changes, they can now specialize in specific industries without moving to a manager category and professionally climb the ladder. The system has seen a huge change."

While civil servant salaries have seen changes from this month onward, an attendance allowance has also been designated for working days. Nevertheless, with the allowance being set to the 15th of each month, this month will see just one half of the allowance being given.

Larger salaries will be given from next month onward.

The official stated that one of the sectors that saw the biggest salary changes is Aviation Security Command, with employees in sectors receiving the lowest salaries seeing great progress.
