According to the Male' City Council website, an agreement was signed for the purpose with MIB on Sunday.

The agreement was signed by Male' City Council's Secretary General Abdul Muhaimin Naseer and MIB's Chief Administrative Officer Mohamed Zulal Zaeem.

The project covers the development of bus stations at four locations in Male' with advanced public transport services and offering convenient service to the public, the City Council said.

Locations of the bus stations

  1. Majeedhee Magu, Maafannu Maizan (the old Maafannu Cemetery)
  2. Ameenee Magu, Sinamale' 3
  3. Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Thaiseykoshi
  4. Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Raalhugan'du area

The City Council stated that MIB will cover the full cost of the project, arranged through a ten-year rent waiver.

MIB will also be handling the design, construction and maintenance of the bus stations with ATM kiosks.

The City Council said that as per the agreement, once the defined period comes to an end, the buildings will come under council ownership.

The City Council said that precedence was given to ensure the buildings are designed in a way that access to the stations are not obstructed due to traffic at the bus stops.
