EC seeks over 7000 officials for Council Elections

Elections Commission (EC) has announced that they are seeking over 7000 officials for the upcoming Local Council Elections.

According to the EC website, over 7000 officials are needed for the Local Council Elections and Women's Development Committee Elections scheduled for next year. 

Interested individuals can now submit applications through the commission's portal. 

Applicants must be over 18 years of age, should not be filling a senior position in any political party, should not be involved in campaign activities of any candidate, should not be related to a candidate, should not be a representative, observer or monitor of candidate, and should not be serving a sentence for any criminal offences. 

The head of the polling station will receive MVR 2,900, while their assistant will receive MVR 2,600. 

Other officials at the polling station will receive MVR 2,300, and vote counters will receive MVR 1,800. Reserve officials are to receive an allowance of MVR 1,000.

Considering work hours, a food allowance and overtime pay will also be provided, EC stated. 

The deadline for applications is 3pm, December 21.
