President to visit Male' residents and merchants

President Muizzu said that he has visited all island councils and the island residents within the last two years, and that next is Male', along with various classes of businessmen and women.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced last night that he will be visiting residents and merchants in all districts of Male' and Hulhumale' starting next week.

A ceremony was held at the Social Center last night to mark two years of the current government's term. During the ceremony, President Muizzu said that he has visited all island councils and the island residents within the last two years, and that next is Male', along with various classes of businessmen and businesswomen.

As per the President, he will visit residents in all Male' districts separately from next week onward. He also said that if time permits, he will try and conduct two visits in one week.

"Soon, we will start separate district visits and hold discussions. This will give the residents of Male' the chance to share with me what they want, to hold discussions and give their thoughts and opinions," said President Muizzu.

The President announced that visits to merchants based in Male' will begin soon. He said that small and medium businesses will be included in the visits.

"Hopefully, the result of these visits will be the implementation of what the citizens want for Male' through these discussions," said the President.

President Muizzu went on to say that various parties have been sharing with him as to the issues in Male'. He also said it is his wish that as per their actions in the past, the government will work with Male' residents to facilitate the work that needs to be done.

As per President Muizzu, he always makes decisions regarding the country after holding discussions. He also said that he visits islands for this reason.

As the government has begun putting together a 20-year masterplan in developing the nation, the President said last night that discussion meetings have been held at all islands with a consultant.

"That amounts to 191 public consultations or discussions. We have held discussions with more than 100 institutions. There have also been 19 experts' roundtable discussions. 96 focused group meetings have been held with the youth, women, businessmen and so on," said the President.

President Muizzu said that while the 20-year development plan is being prepared, he wants to do so with everyone's thoughts and discussions as well.

"Even I am doing as I have said. And so, I have met with all the islands. I have met with all island residents. I have met with relevant stakeholders, experts and institutions," said the President in regards to the masterplan preparation discussion.

President Muizzu went on to say that with these discussions, the first draft of the 20-year masterplan will be complete by February 2026, with the final draft following a few days after.
