President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that freedom of expression within Islam's Hudud is wholly available in Maldives, with him posing a strong warning to those who want to express their thoughts outside of it to leave to another country.
During the massive PNC Rally on 14th November, the President said that no matter how many statements are released from "any foreign land", it is of no concern to him and that Maldives will move forward with what the citizens want.
"This is the freedom of speech offered within the Hudud. It is something that needs to be done for Maldives in the name of stability," said the President.
President Muizzu stated that everyone has a reputation and one of the most fundamental rights described in Islam is the protection of one's reputation. He also stated that this is an equal right amongst everyone.

"We all have families, children, spouses, friends and colleagues. Everyone has a reputation and honor. Everyone has rights. Everyone has human dignity. This government will not give any opportunity for these things to be muddied," said President Muizzu.
As per the President, one of the most important rights in order to establish stability in Maldives is freedom of speech. The President also said that that right is available "to it's fullest extent." He went on to repeatedly say that this is something in the Hudud.
You can assemble every night, every day, conduct an assembly 24 hours out of the day.President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu
President Muizzu said that no Maldivian wants to do anything against Islam and Shariah.
Along with freedom of speech, the President said the right to assembly is also available in Maldives. He went on to say that previously assembly was only possible at the Carnival region, but this government has designated around four to five places where people can assemble without prior permission. However, he continued, they have not seen anyone assembling.
You can assemble every night. Who can stop it? I cannot think of any reason that shows a lack of that right. You can assemble every night, every day, conduct an assembly 24 hours out of the day.
"You can freely express yourselves within the Hudud, no one will care. No one will be worried, nor will anyone be put into jail. I have stated previously that there will be no political detainees."
