Last night, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the jail cells made by previous governments for political detainees are empty and the current government will not be arresting anyone for political reasons.
President Muizzu stated this during his speech last night at the PNC Rally held at Artificial Beach.
The President said that as there is no one to be held in the prison cells made by previous governments for politicians, the Correctional Services employees only clean and watch over the cells.
"I have no one I want to send there. And that is because I do not retaliate politically," said President Muizzu.
As per the President, his policy is to not arrest anyone over political mindsets and thinking. He also stated that no one has been arrested in such a situation within the last two years of this administration.

"This will not be seen in the future either," assured President Muizzu.
The President said that while looking at the past, people would have been put in jail for one or two years. However, he said that he does not mind if people were to speak their mind on political matters.
"We will not do such a thing. There will be no politically-fueled retaliation. I have stated that the spirit of revenge will not be maintained by this government. We have not enforced such a thing to this day. We have not acted in such a way," said the President.
President Muizzu stated that he wants the nation to be stable in the truest sense of the word, and that it can be achieved by being rid of the "tides of revenge", and by putting the nation first.

"This is an army that puts the nation first. This army has worked these last few years by putting the nation first. Instead of prioritizing personal interests, all you beloved citizens put the country above everything else," said President Muizzu while gesturing to the people who attended the PNC Rally.
"This is the pride all of you hold. The pride this party has."
What is important is a lawful rule
President Muizzu stated that even though there is no one to be held in the prison cells made by previous governments for political figures, everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.
And so, the President said that he does not have any discrimination while ruling through law is not a "choice" he has.

"It is not a choice in a fair governance to discriminate against people. No one is above enforcement. This system will be applied to everyone. I will not loosen my grip regarding this. If I do, it is akin to letting go of fairness," said President Muizzu.
However, the President said, there will be no political "difficulties" people will experience.
