Ahmed Mahloof, who served as the
Youth Minister during the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) administration,
joined the ruling Progressive National Congress (PNC) last night.
At the large rally held at the Artificial Beach area, Mahloof officially joined the party and
handed his membership form to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
In addition to Mahloof, veteran
journalist Imad Latheef and several other individuals also joined the PNC.

Mahloof resigned from MDP on
September 8th of this year. He did not publicly state his reasons for leaving
the party after serving as a minister in the MDP government. However, he had
not participated in any party activities leading up to his resignation.
Mahloof initially began his political career
with former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's DRP. He later joined the MDP after
distancing himself from the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) during the
administration of former President Abdulla Yameen. At the time, he was serving
as a parliament member on a PPM ticket.
