With road closures for PNC rally, bus routes halted

MTCC announced that bus transport on five routes are temporarily halted as the roads will remain closed until 12:30am. These five routes are R2, R8, R10, R11 and R12.

MTCC has temporarily halted bus transport on some routes between Male' and Hulhumale' due to road closures set in place for tonight's ruling People's National Congress (PNC) rally. 

Police have announced that certain roads near the Artificial Beach area, where the rally is being held, will be closed from 6pm tonight until the event ends. 

Due to this, MTCC announced that bus transport on five routes are temporarily halted as the roads will remain closed until 12:30am. These five routes are R2, R8, R10, R11 and R12. 

In a post shared on social media, Police shared a map which indicates that Bodutharukufaanu Magu will be closed from Raalhugan'du to Carnival area. Five other roads connected to Boduthakurufaanu Magu in this area will also be closed. 

In addition to this, Majeedhee Magu - from Artificial Beach to Henveiru Stadium will also be closed to all traffic, and from Henvieru Stadium to Janavaree Magu will be closed to four wheeled vehicles, and will only allow one-way traffic from the direction of Carnival to Majeedhee Magu. 

Supporters from across the atolls have been traveling to Male' over the past couple of days to attend tonight's PNC rally. The party has said that this will be the biggest political event held in the country in recent history. 

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will also be attending tonight's rally, scheduled to start at 8:30pm.
