The National Award for Public Service has been presented to 97 recipients, with the President’s Award for Special Achievement being presented to 33 recipients today.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented both awards at the Social Center this morning in celebration of the 57th Republic Day of Maldives.
The President's Office stated that the National Award for Public Service that were conferred to 97 recipients are individuals who have served the state for 35 to 39 years. The President's Office also stated that the same award was received by 94 recipients on Independence Day this year, who have served the state for more than 40 years.
President Muizzu conferred to the recipients, along with the National Award for Public Service, an honorary badge, honorary shield and commemorative plaque.
The National Award for Public Service is an award given to individuals of note who have served the state for more than 35 years. The award is given in appreciation of their capability in attending to the responsibilities of their position and services they have done with sincerity, along with their services to bring the association they were at to greater heights.
This is an award that any individual who holds a state position can qualify for, should they meet the requirements.
The National Award for Public Service began being conferred in 2021.
The President’s Award for Special Achievement is awarded to those who give Maldives a good name through hard work and scholarly achievements.
The President's Office said that while 90 individuals had submitted forms for the President’s Award for Special Achievement, only 33 of them had met the requirements for the award.
8 recipients have a Level 10 qualification as per the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), with 23 recipients having scored the highest in Level 7, 8 or 9 qualification levels in the NQF. Two of the recipients are those who have received the highest ranking or honor in international and other competitions.
President Muizzu awarded recipients of the Special Achievement with an honorary badge and commemorative plaque.
