Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ahmed Shifan has lodged a complaint requesting a probe into the alleged altering of his personal information - recorded by the Professional Standards Command (PSC) - by another ACP.
In a letter addressed to Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, Shifan wrote that while some of his personal information had been recorded by the PSC in May, Digital Data and Technology had informed that another ACP had brought changes to these records. Shifan said that this was officially brought to the attention of the Police on May 29.
Shifan further alleged that on November 8, an individual with PSC system access had leaked both genuine and false information to official institutions and local news agencies.
Shifan requested the Commissioner to initiate an inquiry into the matter in line with police procedures.
While Shifan has raised these concerns, 11 Police officers have submitted allegations against him to the Parliament's Committee on National Security Services (241 Committee). These 11 Police Officers at the rank of Chief Superintendent and above acted as whistleblowers in bringing this case to the attention of the parliamentary committee.
