Inaya reappointed as Foreign Secretary

Fathimath Inaya has been reappointed as Foreign Secretary. 

Inaya, who has several years experience working in the foreign service, was first appointed as Foreign Secretary in December, 2023. However, she was dismissed five months later. She was then serving as secretary.

It has been reported that until Inaya was reappointed to the post last week, the position had remained vacant. 

As per the Foreign Service Act, a Foreign Secretary's term is three years. 

Inaya served as a Deputy Minister at the Foreign Ministry during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen as well. Prior to this, she worked at Transparency Maldives. 

Inaya holds a Masters Degree in International Relations and Affairs from Australia's Sydney University.
