Envoy of Indian PM arrives for Hanimaadhoo Airport opening

A special envoy of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has arrived today in the Maldives to attend the inauguration of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport.

India's Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu will be attending the opening ceremony of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport being held tonight. 

On arrival, the special envoy was received by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the special envoy is in Maldives on an official visit. The ministry did not provide any further details. 

However, it has been reported in Mihaaru News that the Prime Minister Modi has sent a special envoy to attend the inauguration of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport, which was redeveloped through loan aid from the Indian government. 

The redevelopment of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport is the largest airport development project currently being undertaken in the country. The airport's new terminal has been in operation since last month. 

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and senior government officials will be participating in the airport's official inauguration tonight.
