Youth dies in accident in Gaafu Alifu Vilingili

A youth from Gaafu Alifu Vilingili has passed away after being injured in a motorcycle accident on the island earlier this week.

Vikash Ahmed, who was injured in the accident late Monday night, was transferred to Male' on Tuesday for further treatment.

However, he died while receiving treatment at IGMH and was laid to rest after noon prayers today.

According to Police, Vikash’s motorcycle collided with the wall of a house. Officers on patrol discovered him around 1:30 am., having fallen unconscious following the crash.

A person familiar with the matter said Vikash had recently begun suffering from seizures, and it is believed that a seizure may have caused the accident.

“He was found some time after the fall- the police located him because it happened in an alley,” a resident from the island said.
