Fuvahmulah City Council requested President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for arrangements for an uninhabited island from an atoll close by.
Gnaviyani Fuvahmulah sits more than 35 kilometers southward from Addu Atoll. Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll sits 55 kilometers north from Fuvahmulah.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the Fuvahmulah City Council, Women's Development Committee members last night during his visit to the island.
The President's Office stated that during the meeting, city council members shared what they require the most from President Muizzu.
President’s Office also said that the City Council requested priority be given to resolving the island’s ongoing water and electricity issues, including frequent water supply disruptions, and to establish a system to test the safety of the island’s drinking water.

Among other requests from the council are a solution for the electricity issues before Ramadan, and for the island's powerplant to be repaired as quickly as possible and its location changed due to the difficulties faced by residents due to the powerplant being in close proximity to urban living areas.
"...the council had requested for an uninhabited island from an atoll close by in order to tackle housing issues," as was said by the President's Office.
The purpose of the office complex that is set to be built in Fuvahmulah is to allow government offices on the island to be located in one place, and for its construction to be finished in a quick manner as was requested by the council, due to the importance the building holds.

The council, after acknowledging that tourism is growing on the island, requested for a percentage of the GST and TGST to go to the council under a policy. They also requested that MACL work hand-in-hand with the Fuvahmulah City Council while the city hotel project is underway.
The council also requested that the waste accumulated at the airport expansion site and the landfill be properly disposed of, and sought a solution to the challenges caused by vehicles that have remained broken down in the area for a long time.
The city council has assured that they will cooperate with the government in their efforts.
President's Office stated that President Muizzu had shared the latest information he had received from ministers and SOE heads regarding the projects on the island to the city council.
