47-year-old dies after fall into Malé building shaft

A man who reportedly fell into a ventilation shaft from the sixth floor of a house in Malé has passed away.

Police stated that the report about a person falling into a ventilation shaft of a house in the Maafannu area was received around 6:30 PM today.

Citing the hospital, police confirmed that the man was already deceased upon arrival at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Police identified the deceased as a 47-year-old Bangladeshi national.

Police did not disclose any details regarding the cause of the fall, stating that the incident is currently under investigation.
