President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has departed today on a two-day official visit to Fuvahmulah City and Addu City.

According to the President’s Office, the President will first visit Fuvahmulah today before travelling to Addu City tomorrow. During his visit, he is scheduled to meet with city councils, women’s development committees, and heads of various institutions.

He will also inaugurate several development projects across the islands.

In Addu, President Muizzu is expected to meet residents of the city’s connected islands as well as those from Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo. His visit comes a day after issuing a presidential decree designating Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo as separate inhabited islands, following the results of a referendum held on October 25 in which residents voted in favour of having their own island councils.

The President’s Office said the trip is part of President Muizzu’s pledge to visit every island in the country twice during his current term.

The President is accompanied by several cabinet ministers and heads of government companies. He is scheduled to conclude the trip and return to Male' tomorrow.

President Muizzu last visited islands in Lhaviyani and Kaafu atolls in October.
