President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that the government’s efforts to revive nationalism are beginning to show results.
Speaking at the official Victory Day ceremony, the President emphasized the unity of the Maldivian people, noting that they share the same language, heritage, and identity.
He called on citizens to put the nation before themselves and instill a sense of Maldivian identity in children, grandchildren, and future generations.
“Nationalism should be revived so that we remember the sacrifices made for this country,” he said.
President Muizzu added that a nationalism policy has been formulated to achieve these goals.
President Muizzu pointed to the strong public response to the government’s National Service programme as evidence of growing national pride.
While the first batch was intended for 350 participants, 1,242 applied, and training began last month. He announced that the programme will reopen early next year.
