President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today laid the foundation stone for a modern
mosque and a Da'wah center to be constructed in the M.
Muiveyodhoshuge (Boduge).
The mosque, which is planned to be named 'Masjidhuh Da'wah' and will
accommodate 1,250 worshippers at once, is described by the Islamic Ministry as
a modern facility that will be accessible to people with special needs and
include a wide range of amenities.
The mosque’s design includes:
- The main prayer area, ablution area, and restrooms on the ground floor.
- The main prayer area on the first floor.
- The women's prayer area and an I'utikaf area on the second floor.
The Ministry further stated that the second floor will also feature a conference
hall with a capacity for 150 people, modern classrooms, a library, and an
administrative office. The mosque's terrace will also be designed as an
additional prayer area.

Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed noted at the ceremony that
the land where the mosque is being built was previously used for various
educational activities.
"This project is also moving forward in a way that allows for worship,
education, and various social activities to be conducted at this center,"
he said.
The mosque project, which has been contracted to Venza Company Private
Limited, is being funded by private parties. The company has been given a
period of 540 days to complete the project.
Minister Shaheem previously announced plans to build new mosques to replace
old ones in Malé. He mentioned that the Barubaree Mosque, which began
construction late last year, will be completed and opened next December, and
construction of the Zikura Mosque is also set to begin next January.
