Zakat House is preparing to introduce a beneficiary card for individuals listed on the national register of poor and needy people, allowing them to access various forms of assistance more easily.

In a statement issued today, Zakat House said the initiative aims to help lift beneficiaries out of poverty by providing streamlined access to welfare support.

Once introduced, the card will enable users to receive health services not covered by Aasandha, as well as assistance related to food during Ramadan, housing, and education, the statement said.

Currently, 2,852 people are registered as eligible for property and Fitr zakat.

Following the establishment of Zakat House as a separate agency under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the institution was also tasked with providing insurance coverage for individuals suffering from chronic illnesses such as cancer.

Earlier today, Zakat House announced a decision to pay down payments for social housing flats on behalf of some registered poor individuals who had not yet settled the required deposits.
