Early diagnosis, accessible treatment for breast cancer important: First Lady

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has said today that it is important that every citizen has accessible treatment and early diagnosis options for breast cancer.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has said today that it is important that every citizen has accessibility to treatment and early diagnosis for breast cancer.

During the inauguration of the "Breast Cancer Awareness Symposium", First Lady Sajidha said that those who suffer from breast cancer have a different experience altogether.

The First Lady said that those who suffer from breast cancer and the support from their families sets an example, and gives courage and inspiration to others.

She also stated that their strength drives the cancer treatment industry, bolsters early detection protocols and empowers the advancement of treatment quality.

First Lady Sajidha said that no woman should have to face breast cancer treatment alone. She also said that it is important for early detection to be implemented, with opportunities for good quality treatment being available as well.

The First Lady advised women who are especially over 40 years of age to conduct screenings for breast cancer, to undergo yearly mammogram procedures and to be aware of signs of the disease.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Symposium brings together healthcare professionals and breast cancer survivors.

The symposium will also discuss further bolstering treatment systems, comprehensive care, identifying the cause of the disease and the latest innovations in the field.

This year's symposium is held under the theme of, “Every Patient’s Story is Unique; Every Patient’s Journey Matters.”
