Roads around Republic Square closed for Victory Day rehearsals

Police have announced that roads around the Republic Square will be closed to traffic at specific times to allow rehearsals of Victory Day activities to take place. 

These roads will be closed from 3:30pm to 6pm, and again from 11pm until rehearsals of Victory Day military parade end, every day from today until the end of Sunday. 

The traffic flow chart shared by Police shows that the area of Boduthakurufaanu Magu from the Fish Market to Bank of Maldives headquarters will be closed to traffic. Roads are also closed to traffic from STO People's Choice on Orchid Magu to the President's Office on Ameer Ahmed Magu, as well as Chandhanee Magu from Seagull Cafe' to the Republic Square. 

The stretch from Chandhanee Magu, on the corner of the Republic Square, to the President's Office is also closed to pedestrians. 

The government has renovated the Republic Square in preparation for Victory Day. The square will be reopened on this year's Victory Day. 

The stretch of Boduthakurufaanu Magu in front of the Republic Square has already been shut to the public due to road development efforts.
