Husnee Mubarik, the PNC Member of Parliament for the Manadhoo constituency,
who was recently appointed as the representative of the Parliament to the
Judicial Service Commission (JSC), has been elected as the President of the
Commission today.
The JSC stated that in accordance with the Commission's law, a vote was
taken among the members present at today's sitting to elect a President, and
Husnee Mubarik was chosen for the position.
He was also officially appointed as a member of the JSC today,
receiving his Letter of Appointment.
Husnee, who served as the Chairperson of the Parliament's Judiciary
Committee until today, was appointed to the JSC following the resignation of
the previous parliamentary representative, Maafushi constituency MP Hussain
Riza.
Upon his appointment to the JSC, Husnee resigned from the Judiciary
Committee.
Alongside Riza's resignation from the JSC, High Court Judge Mohamed Niyaz,
who served as the Commission's Vice President, also recently resigned.
Consequently, Yazmeed Mohamed, the member representing the President in the
JSC, was elected as the new Vice President.
