President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced today that along with the resort to be built in the K. Kaashidhoo's lagoon, scheduled seaplane operations will also start.
There were no interested parties that had applied for the initial resort construction announcement at the 10 hectare lagoon area. It has since been re-announced with concessions.
President Muizzu is currently visiting islands in K. Atoll. During his speech to Kaashidhoo residents, he stated that since tourism expansion is a pledge of his, an announcement has been made again to find a company to build a resort at the Kaadhishoo lagoon.
"The project has not moved forward as no company took an interest in the first announcement stage. We have re-announced it with special concessions," said President Muizzu.
As per the President, it was announced a second time after including concessions that would interest investors.
"My hope is that with these concessions, we will see investors who want to build a resort in the lagoon," said President Muizzu.
The President said that the project would provide economic development and job opportunities to Kaashidhoo. The island has a population of more than 2,000, with job opportunities being available close to the island being essential.

Even though a resort will be built at the lagoon, President Muizzu said they will cooperate with the island council in their efforts to further local tourism.
President Muizzu said that an RTL ferry system will be established in order to bolster transport systems being conducted by the government. The President also said that easier air travel transport systems will also be established.
President Muizzu also said the government's policy is to establish seaplane schedule operations and that the government is working on a system to have two companies work on the seaplane service operations on a permanent basis.
"Establishing seaplane schedule operations in this island is part of the government's policy. Establishing seaplane schedule operations will also be important for tourism," said the President.
President Muizzu said that when looking to start seaplane services in Kaashidhoo, tourism services are also an important factor.
"We are working to find a company to build a resort, along with bringing a permanent solution to seaplane operations to the island," said the President.
As per the President, when these milestones are achieved, island businesses will also be empowered.
Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare and the island council have signed an agreement today in order to conduct a food security program.
When he met with Kaashidhoo residents, President Muizzu said that work to build a new health center will begin as well, as it is important to expand health services in the somewhat isolated island.
President Muizzu also said that they are working to establish healthcare services such as scans, x-rays, and physiotherapy.
The President went on to say that next year's state budget has allocated funds for a harbor project in the island, which will begin next year.
