Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed today stated that legal professionals, much like
judges, have a significant responsibility in establishing justice.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the Islamic University to administer the oath
to newly licensed lawyers, the Chief Justice said that lawyers, just like
judges, bear the heavy responsibility of establishing justice and securing the
rights of the deserving parties. He emphasized that judges and lawyers must
work towards the same goal.
"Legal professionals, just like judges, are participants in the journey
of justice who work to establish fairness and equity. Therefore, a very
significant responsibility rests on all of us. That is the challenging work of
securing rights for their rightful owners," the Chief Justice said.
The Chief Justice stated that after receiving a legal license, the next step
involves difficult and demanding work. He stressed that this work must be
performed with honesty and sincerity. He added that maintaining confidentiality
and carrying out assigned tasks with integrity are also crucial. Furthermore,
the Chief Justice noted the importance of lawyers always remaining aware of all
legal matters.
While acknowledging the existence of successful lawyers in the Maldives, the
Chief Justice said that success in the field is achieved by being punctual,
working with sincerity, and adhering to ethical principles in the profession.
He concluded that such sacrifices are necessary to reach success in the legal
field.
