Police have recovered USD 20,000
(over MVR 300,000) that was stolen from a group of expatriates in Hulhumalé.
Police stated that a case was
reported on Friday at 2:40 AM regarding the theft of USD 20,000 and other items
from a bag at a site where expatriates reside in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
While police were searching the area
to recover the items, they found the missing USD 20,000, the bag, several wallets,
and other belongings. The police noted that the items were found hidden among
some trees.
Although the recovered items have
now been returned to their owner, police confirmed that no arrests have been
made in connection with the case so far.
The police are currently investigating the
matter.
