Three expatriates have been taken into custody for allegedly running an extensive alcohol trade in Hulhumale'.

Police stated today that three individuals were arrested in Hulhumale' Phase 1 last night for the sale and use of alcohol. The three were taken into custody by officers who were out on patrol. 

The three individuals have been identified as two Bangladeshi men, MD Riasuddeen, 19, and MD Ashraful Alam, 27, and a Pakistani man, Yasir Hameed, 24. 

Police said that the three had been near Flat 100 with multiple cardboard boxes. Their behaviour raised suspicion, prompting an investigation that led to the discovery of 232 bottles of suspected alcohol, each 500ml in volume. 

A subsequent search of an apartment in which one of the accused lives led to the discovery of 49 more 500ml sized bottles of alcohol.
