Husband and wife found deceased side by side

A husband and wife were found deceased side by side in a residence in S. Hithadhoo today. 

It has been learned that the bodies of the deceased have now been taken to the hospital. 

The deceased have been identified as Ibrahim Abdulla, 60, Kureynge, S.Hithadhoo and Farahnaaz Rasheed, 52, Nares, S. Maradhoo. 

Relatives had gone to the residence looking for them after not having heard from them since last night. 

A person who went to the residence today told Mihaaru News that the couple was found deceased in a bathroom connected to a bedroom. Injuries were observed on both the man and woman, with a severe gash near the man's ear being noted.

The source said that based on the objects found inside the bathroom, it appeared as if the couple had been doing some work in the bathroom when they had got electrocuted, causing instant death. 

"It strongly appears as if the man had been doing some work, and had got electrocuted and collapsed. The woman may have been electrocuted while trying to assist him. They were found with their heads touching, and the power had gone out by the time we entered the house," they said. 

The couples' residence is located near the Hithadhoo Tourism Zone. They had settled into this new home only about two days ago. As the area is not equipped with electricity services as of yet, they were using a small generator as a power supply.
