A large glass door on the fifth floor of Huravee School in Hulhumale' Phase 1 shattered last night as heavy rain and strong winds swept across the region.
Police said the door, which contained 12 glass panels, gave way under the force of the wind, scattering shards across all floors of the building and much of the school yard.
Officers cleaned up the debris overnight to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a white alert for central Maldives, including Male', warning of rough seas and strong Southwest Monsoon winds.
MET has forecast winds reaching up to 45mph during showers.
