The Prosecutor General's Office has withdrawn the appeal case against the Criminal Court's acquittal of Sheikh Nasrullah on charges of production and possession of pornography, obstructing law enforcement, and neglecting wife and children.

PG Office sent a letter to the High Court on August 5 seeking to withdraw the case against former Arabiyya School Principal Nasrullah.

The letter outlines the rationale for dropping the case, citing the passage of nine years since the incident, the absence of a legal question requiring High Court intervention, and the victims' desire to discontinue proceedings.

The case was appealed at the High Court in 2023. The case, which was being heard by High Court Judges Dheebanaaz Fahmy, Mohamed Niyaz and Fathimath Farheeza, was cancelled yesterday.

Nasrullah was previously, in 2017, charged with taking four persons to Hajj and leaving them stranded. In this case, he was charged with intentional forging of documents, and failing to seek permits where required.

At all stages of the case, Nasrullah has denied the charges.
