Cigarette heist: parts of containers recovered

In their investigation into the theft of over 13.6 million cigarettes from the MPL Port following its seizure by Customs, Police have now recovered parts of the containers the cigarettes were originally held in. 

In a message shared with media, Police said that these parts were recovered in a search operation carried out in Thilafushi last Sunday.

Police have also made a new arrest related to the case, in addition to the four already in custody. Police said that this individual is a 52 year old man. 

Police have not yet revealed the person's identity, nor his connection to the case.
