MACL to develop Kadhdhoo Airport to international standard

MACL was awarded the project to develop Laamu Kadhdhoo Airport to international standards.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is currently visiting Laamu Atoll. Development projects were signed during a meeting at L. Fonadhoo.

Some projects include the development of Kadhdhoo Airport to international standards, land reclamation in Fonadhoo and coastline protection.

Finance Minister Moosa Zameer and MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed signed these agreements.

President Muizzu spoke during the signing last night, stating Kadhdhoo Airport will be developed with a 2,800 meter runway. He also said that the work will be done so that Kadhdhoo's police center would not have to be moved.

Along with the airport expansion, Fonadhoo will also see an increase in land, said the President.

As per President Muizzu, 114 hectares of land will be reclaimed for the airport, while 30 hectares will be reclaimed for Fonadhoo.

The President also said that the reclamation work will begin this morning.
