RCC stated today that the remaining work surrounding the flats in Hulhumale' being built by Jaah Investments will be finished within this month and handed over to the HDC.

"The Gardens" project at Hulhumale' Phase 1 was awarded to the RCC for MVR 20 million on 2nd June. The project reached its deadline of four months on 2nd October, with work still underway.

"30 percent of the work had been completed when we were given the project. We had to finish the rest, which is a lot of work," said RCC Chairman Mohamed Nazim to Mihaaru News today.

A senior HDC official told Mihaaru News that practical work on the Jaah flats began after the administrative side of things had been completed.

"We came to find out that a lot of the work had to be changed. Changes had to be made because this was work that was supposed to be done years ago," said the HDC official.

RCC Chairman Nazim assured that all the work will be done within this month.

The Jaah apartments were to be done within two years, a project that began in 2017. However, people had protested as 8 years had passed without it being completed.

Subsequently, HDC looked into the case and gave Jaah Investments a 30-day notice two years ago to complete the flats and pay for the plot. However, nothing was done even after the notice expired.

After that, a timeframe of 45 days was given to complete work on the apartments. Due to the incompletion, the HDC annulled the agreement. Jaah took the matter to court in order to stop HDC from taking the plot. The court stated that they cannot approve such an order.

HDC said in October 2023 that the finishing touches had begun from the 10th floor and below, such as plastering, putty application, flooring and ceiling work. At the time, HDC said that the unfinished work could be completed within six months.
